Welcome to Mrs. Sebik's Grade 7 English Biome Project
Dear Visitor,
During the last two weeks of the first semester, the 7th grade MC English classes did research on biomes as part of an interdisciplinary project with the science department. Students worked in groups. Each group was assigned a biome. Group members divided up the tasks in the research project and began collecting information. Many students were completely unfamiliar with the term biome when they began this project so there was plenty to be learned. Students worked in the library where our librarian, Mrs. Chris Simpson, helped them to find the information that was needed. Mrs. Simpson set up a Destiny Quest through our library portal which was a great resource full of books and links. Thank you, Mrs. Simpson!
While continuing their research on one hand, students also began preparing the wiki which you are now viewing. Again, most of them had never heard of a wiki and were curious to discover what it was. As a teacher I was thrilled to see how enthusiastically students worked to get everything just right. They have done a great job and deserve a big round of applause!
My students and I hope that you enjoy the pages on our wiki and that you find them informational. Personally, I have learned a lot. There is one fact that has really left an impression on me: in each and every biome that was researched, humans are considered one of the major threats to it.Biodiversity Final Video Now that is food for thought. If you would like to comment on our wiki you will need to join it and that would make us very pleased.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sebik :)
